Summer Reading Program
June 1 - July 23
The One World, Many Stories summer reading program is June 1- July 23 and is open to all ages from newborn to adult. PARTICIPANTS DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT TO SIGN UP, BUT MUST BE PRESENT TO CLAIM PRIZES. Participants may only sign up at one Jackson County Public Library location and must claim prizes at that location.
Only time spent reading after signing up will count towards the reading program. Participants may sign up from June 1- July 16. The last day to claim prizes is July 23.
All materials used must come from the Seymour, Crothersville, or Medora libraries or the Discovery Bus. Books, magazines, comic books, graphic novels, Books on Tape, Books on CD, Audio Kits, Playaways, and Overdrive eBooks and audiobooks may be used.
All participants will receive a reading record to be taken home. Participants will keep track of the number of books OR minutes that they read. Readers must initial a balloon on the reading record for each book read OR for every 10 minutes of reading time. Children ages 0-10 must have their reading record signed by an adult.
Children are encouraged to read books at or above their reading level.
Children are also encouraged to read on their own; however, parents, older siblings, or other caregivers may assist them in their reading. Every book OR 10 minutes read to a child will count on the child’s reading record and on the reading record of the person reading to the child.
New this year, summer reading program participants are awarded a one-time prize packet for reading 50 books or 500 minutes. Quantities are limited for some prizes and the library reserves the right to substitute prizes due to availability. The last day to register for the summer reading program is July 16 and the last day to collect prizes is July 23.
