Library volunteers

  • We welcome adults and children who are 13 years or older.
  • Applicants must agree to background checks.
  • The number of volunteers accepted is based on need and supervisory time available.

Visit the Checkout Desk or download and fill out the volunteer form and return this form to the Checkout Desk at any JCPL location. We will contact you.


Volunteer positions


Summer Event Signup: Fill out this form to volunteer for our Summer Learning Program kickoff and to help at Minicon! SLP kickoff is June 4 3pm-7pm and Minicon is July 20 and 21, we’ll need lots of help all three days. Crothersville’s SLP Kickoff is June 6 4pm-6pm and Medora’s is June 9 2pm-4pm.

Kidz Cleaning Crew: Responsible for cleaning board books, picture books, plastic toys, puzzles, and trains.  Straighten DVDs, pick up loose materials (puzzles, coloring table, crayons, puppets), put away outdoor sign letters.

Children’s Programming: Program Assistance (ex: Storytime, School Age, Crafts) Pass out name tags, participate in songs and dance, clean egg shakers, help with hands on activities.

Genealogy Digital Archive/Local History Records:  Assist with scanning or editing local history photos, working on databases of local history or genealogy information, or helping with programs.

Outreach Services Homebound Delivery: Drop off/pick up library materials for patrons who are homebound.

Technical Services: Stamp material, apply various labels, apply book covers and jackets, prepare audiovisual materials, and prepare materials for withdrawal.

Mending: Materials repair

Cutting Coupons: Cut out and organize coupons
